Rachel serves as a Special Assistant for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.  One of her responsibilities is overseeing the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) grant. Previously she served as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Section, Chief Deputy and, before that, Special Victims Division Chief.  In that position she supervised the bureaus responsible for prosecuting cases involving child molestation, sexual assault, computer-related crimes against children, child physical abuse, domestic violence, and auto theft. Rachel has been a prosecutor for over 27 years.  Twenty-three of those years she spent handling sex offenses and crimes against children.  Rachel teaches prosecutors and other professionals nationally and across Arizona in these areas.  She also works on legislation for her office and serves on various committees and task forces.  In 2003, Rachel was the Arizona Outstanding Sexual Assault Prosecutor.  In 2006, she was the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Prosecutor of the Year.  That same year, she also received the Arizona Children’s Justice Task Force Award for Excellence for Outstanding Child Abuse Legal Professional.  In 2013, she was given the David R. White Excellence in Victim Advocacy Award by the Arizona Prosecuting Attorneys’ Advisory Council.
