Amber Lueken Barwick graduated from Moorhead State University in Moorhead, MN, before attending law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She worked as an Assistant District Attorney in the Mecklenburg County (Charlotte) District Attorney’s Office. While there, she served as the Domestic Violence Unit Supervisor, overseeing the Domestic Violence Court and handling all domestic violence misdemeanor appeals cases in Superior Court. Upon leaving the Mecklenburg County District Attorney’s Office, Ms. Lueken Barwick worked as an Assistant Solicitor-General in the DeKalb County Solicitor-General’s Office, working primarily as a Special Prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Unit. While at the Solicitor-General’s Office, she was a member of the DeKalb County Domestic Violence Task Force and the Georgia Domestic Violence Fatality Review Project. She joined the NC Conference of District Attorneys in February of 2007 as the Domestic and Sexual Violence Resource Prosecutor. In this position, she provides technical assistance and develops training on domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking issues for North Carolina prosecutors and law enforcement officers, and prosecutes conflict cases at the request of the elected district attorneys.
