Join us for this opportunity to learn about DRE evaluations from one of Arizona’s premier DRE officer instructors. DPS Trooper Justin Maunder will take us through the 12-step process every DRE officer uses during DUI drug investigations. He will explain what information is gathered and documented during each step. He will demonstrate what a completed Drug Influence report and narrative look like; explaining how to read the face sheet. Tips for preparing and presenting these cases will also be provided.

Beth Barnes serves as Arizona’s GOHS Traffic Safety Resource Prosecutor (TSRP) through a grant from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and the Arizona DUI Abatement Council. In this role, she serves as a resource for law enforcement, prosecutors, traffic safety professionals, judges, and the community to more effectively address impaired driving and other traffic safety issues. She has been an assistant city prosecutor with the City of Phoenix Prosecutor’s Office for almost 29 years, specializing in the prosecution of DUI cases. Beth also serves as the national prosecutor representative on the IACP Technical Advisory Panel for Impaired Driving Programs.
Justin Maunder is a State Trooper for the Arizona Department Public Safety (DPS) and is currently the department's Impaired Driving Programs Coordinator. Justin has been a Peace Officer in Arizona for eight years and has spent the last three years with DPS following employment with Globe Police Department and Navajo County Sheriff's Office. Justin is an Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus/Standarized Field Sobriety Test (HGN/SFST) Technition, HGN/SFST Instructor, Advance Roadside Impaired Drivine Enforcement (ARIDE) Trained, Drug Recgnition Expert (DRE), Drug Recognition Expert Instructor, and a Drug Impairment Training for Educational Professionals (DITEP) Instructor. Justin is the course manager for the Advanced Collision Investigation Course for the DPS State Trooper Academy and a forensic phlebotomist.
