W. Scott Harkey is the financial crimes prosecutor for the Piedmont Region of North Carolina. He prosecutes complex economic felonies involving public corruption, embezzlement, corporate malfeasance, elder exploitation, securities fraud, athlete agent violations, and other white-collar matters. Harkey has served as lead counsel in some of the most notorious fraud cases in modern North Carolina history, including a $269.9 million contract fraud case and a multi-million dollar Ponzi scheme. In 2018, he was certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Board Certified Specialist in state criminal law. He currently serves on the executive committee for the North Carolina Bar Association's Criminal Justice section.
