When Miranda warnings apply for juveniles, can often be a trick question. This presentation will take a deep dive into juvenile Miranda warnings, and when they are applicable. Additionally, school settings can be a unique forum when determining if juvenile Miranda warnings are triggered. This presentation will seek to shed light on this common issue.

Amber Hardy currently serves at the Resource Juvenile Prosecutor for the NCCODA. She joined the team in January 2021. In this role not only does Ms. Hardy serve as aid to district attorney offices across the state, she also serves on legislative committees and subcommittees that strive to update and reform the juvenile code. Previously, Ms. Hardy served as an assistant district attorney in Prosecutorial District 8, covering Edgecombe, Wilson, and Nash counties. During her time in District 8, she served in District, Juvenile, and Superior courts. In her spare time, Ms. Hardy loves serving her community through volunteer work. She consistently serves as volunteer for the Edgecombe and Nash Teen Court Programs.
