International Extraditions


The ability to extradite a fugitive internationally is based on treaties and international agreements and is governed by international law. During this training we will cover the steps involved in requesting an extradition from abroad.

Adena Astrowsky, Deputy Maricopa County Attorney, Maricopa County Attorney's Office

Adena Astrowsky began her legal career with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in 1998. Before assuming the Foreign Extradition assignment last year within the Appeals Bureau, she worked in several different assignments within MCAO, including the Sex Crimes Bureau and Family Violence Bureau. Adena served as MCAO’s lead domestic violence-strangulation prosecutor and handled the first successful trial involving A.R.S. §13-1204(B). Adena also worked for Childhelp and the Appeals Bureau of the Pinal County Attorney’s Office. Outside of the office, Adena serves on the Board of the Phoenix Holocaust Association and is the author of the book, Living among the Dead (2020, Amsterdam Publishing).
